UPPER FALLS Taughannock Falls State Park 100ft cascading fall, the upper gateway to Taughannock Gorge Fun Facts Trail Info The North and South Rim Trails meet atop the abandoned Lehigh Valley railroad trestle, 100ft above Taughannock Gorge. Tourist trains stopped here more than a century ago, thrilling Victorian passengers with lofty views of the Upper Falls and the mile-long gorge below. View from the North Rim Trail, adjacent to the trailhead parking area on Jacksonville Rd. Easy South Rim Trail: 1.125mi. Moderate North Rim Trail: 1.5mi. Moderate Gorge trail and overlook open year round. Other trails open April-Oct. 3 DIRECTIONS FROM ITHACA Take Rt. 89 north 8mi to Taughannock Falls State Park. Turn left on Taughannock Park Rd. and left on Jacksonville Rd. The trailhead parking area is immediately on your left. Swimming prohibited in gorge. Dogs allowed on leash. $7/car parking fee (2010). Transferable, valid all day at all NYS Parks.
