FOREST FALLS Fall Creek / Cornell Natural Areas 25ft cascading fall, birds-eye view of a "hanging valley" Fun Facts Trail Info Rock-framed Forest Falls is just upstream of the Stewart Ave. bridge. Downstream, Fall Creek disappears over the crest of Ithaca Falls. Southbound glaciers bulldozed the Earth here, scraping out the Cayuga basin, leaving Fall Creek hanging—which is why geologists call this a "hanging valley." View from the Stewart Ave. bridge, or hike the orange-blazed Cayuga Trail along the gorge rim for a closer look. (Connects to falls #16.) The trailhead is at the bridge, near the "Cayuga Heights Historic District" sign. 0.2mi. Easy Open year round, no winter maintenance. 17 DIRECTIONS FROM ITHACA Take Buffalo St. east (uphill) 0.3mi and turn left on Stewart Ave. Go 0.8mi and turn right on Fall Creek Dr., just past the Fall Creek bridge. The small visitor parking lot is 0.2mi on your right. Swimming prohibited. Dogs allowed on leash. No fee.
