As predicted a year ago, 2014 was a challenging, interesting, and transformational year for the Chamber of Commerce. Many longstanding traditions of the Chamber carried on throughout the year. The Chamber sta and the sta at the Convention and Visitors Bureau worked harder than ever, achieved many successes, and some were promoted to take full advantage of their dedication and talent. The Chamber's tradition of carefully analyzing public policy issues and advocating for business continued throughout the year. Chamber members and their guests were presented with many wonderful opportunities to learn and network among themselves. Some newer traditions like On the Job Training grants were administered to help businesses and not-for-prots, and their workforces. The transformational aspect of the year was evidenced as we bid adieu to long-time Chamber President Jean McPheeters and and welcomed Jennifer Tavares as the new Chamber President. The search committee, chaired by past Board Chair David Hall, worked extremely hard to successfully complete the search. The President and her sta pulled o some amazing feats throughout the year. Policies and ideas emerge from various committees - sometimes an idea comes from an unlikely source like the Board Chair. Time and again the idea emerges and the President and sta bring it to fruition. I am condent that Kara Taylor, this year's Board Chair, and our President, Jennifer Tavares, will continue to provide inspiring leadership of our Chamber. Carrying on Chamber Traditions 2014 Board Chair Mike May
