ith the area's most diverse
shopping, eclectic dining
and biggest events,
Downtown Ithaca and the Ithaca
Commons pedestrian mall are a
must-see for everyone visiting town.
The Ithaca Commons, originally
opened in 1974, is one of only a
handful of pedestrian malls left in
the United States. It's the centerpiece
of a Nationally Registered Historic
District with restored building
facades, more than 100 specialty
shops and an array of eclectic
restaurants.
In 2013, a major transformation
of the Ithaca Commons began
which culminates this fall with
the unveiling of newly redesigned
public space. In typical Ithaca style,
the construction is being managed
with an artistic flair, including over
