6 9 | H E A R T O F T H E F I N G E R L A K E S We are advocates for universal access throughout all community assets. Below are some places throughout Tompkins County which work well for our family, and a few reasons why. Patrick uses a wheelchair and we have two young chil- dren, so we o en also travel with a stroller. While the places highlighted below are some of our favorites to visit and that work well for our family, there are many others that may also work well for yours. ITHACA BEER because there is ample accessible parking and the restrooms are accessible. Patrick and I LOVE their root beer and really enjoy ea ng outside with Cora in the warmer weather. www.IthacaBeer.com U-PICK - SILVER QUEEN FARM blue- berry picking worked for our family here because the berry patches were rela vely close to get to. Here, we were able to get close enough to pick berries and Patrick could par cipate in the fun without hav- ing to wheel too far over bumpy terrain. www.silverqueenfarmny.com STEWART PARK and the new inclusive playground. This has been a lifeline for our family. Patrick can independently take Cora to the park now and mingle and meet other parents. Here, because of the universal design, he can par ci- pate in her play instead of being on the sidelines while she is far away. We also love taking Cora on walks on the paved FAMILY- FRIENDLY, WHEELCHAIR FRIENDLY EVERYBODY FRIENDLY! Accessibility means something different for everyone. Because of that, please feel free to contact our Visitor Experience Team at any of our three visitor center loca ons (see page 6) or via the live chat on VISITITHACA.COM so we can work with you to help you plan the most enjoyable visit possible for you and your family. Wri en by Ashley and Patrick Bohn. Both work at Ithaca College, and Patrick is a writer and blogger @Paren ngOnWheels
